About F9 Languages

F9 Languages in Brussels, formerly known as ‘Fondation 9′, is a language school founded in 1989 under the aegis of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), the Brussels Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BECI) and the City of Brussels.

We give group and one-to-one language lessons to the general public and to companies both at F9 and in-company.

The courses are tailored to the private and professional needs of our students taking account their language level and objectives.

Our team comprises around  30 teachers supported by a coordinator, while our administrative staff are at your service for practical information.

The content of the course is decided on the basis of the group or individual needs, be they professional, social or other.
The course may comprise:

  • Discussions or conversations on topics of general and/or professional interest
  • Acquisition of general and/or professional vocabulary
  • Listening comprehension (Youtube, Ted, etc.)
  • Roleplays
  • Presentations

The course is functional and communicative. Grammar is always seen as a means to an end and not an end in itself.

For certain courses computers are available for the learners to work at their own pace.

An evaluation takes place before the start of the course to assess the level and goals of each participant and to ensure the homogeneity of the group.

We use the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to assess the language skills and progress of our learners.
